Moms, sons, grandparents, friends, siblings, husbands, neighbors and newborns. People of all ages and all walks of life are waiting for life-saving transplants. There are more than 100,000 people on the national waiting list and about 3,000 waiting in North Carolina. They have names and faces and lives that they are trying to hold together as they wait for a transplant.
The need for organ and tissue transplants and the shortage of donors affects people of all ages, races, cultures and ethnic backgrounds, but is especially great in the minority community.
