It's true, but sadly, many North Carolinians think otherwise. Organ, eye and tissue donation is generally welcomed as a personal choice and an act of charity toward others. Check out our list of religious views for each religion's stance on donation.
So..
Are you a faith leader or wanting to get more involved in your faith based organization? We need more people like you to help us spread the word about donation in faith communities. We can provide education, resources, and materials to groups of any size.
A few ways we can talk about it:
Prayer
Praying for and identifying those in your house of faith who are affected by donation is the number one way to help. Start the conversation with those individuals and learn their story.
Newsletters
If your house of faith has a newsletter or e-publication, consider adding Donate Life NC content to keep your supporters informed. We can send you regular updated information or a one-time article.
Outreach events
Does your faith group host fairs, drives, or other outreach events? We'd love to provide staff or volunteers along with materials and giveaways at your next event.
Sunday Funday
We make ourselves available on Sundays or any other day of the week that your constituents gather. Whether it be 2 minutes or 1 hour, we'd love to come chat and share knowledge or send materials for you to share.
Staff Meetings
Are you on staff or involved in leadership at our organization? Staff meetings are a great opportunity to educate your leadership about donation in the faith based community.
Small Groups
If your small group has the opportunity to talk about topics facing our world, consider starting a conversation about donation.
Social Media and Other Communication
One of the easiest ways to help is to share the message on your social media sites. Facebook, Twitter, Instragram, your website, etc. are all great spaces to share information about Donate Life NC. Please follow us, like, and share any time you see interesting content on our sites!
We also have large beautiful posters, bible markers, program inserts and more for you to display. Just let us know and we'll send you materials right away.
Participate in Donor Sabbath Weekend
National Donor Sabbath Weekend takes place each November. It's a time where places of worship can collectively highlight the importance organ, eye, and tissue donation in their communities. We have special North Carolina resources we can send to help you host an event. Click here to learn more.
