After learning that Kevin needed a kidney transplant, Coach Walter was tested to see if he would be a match and ended up donating a kidney to Kevin. He did so when Kevin was a freshman at Wake Forest – before he even played one game for the Demon Deacons. Their story was featured by the ESPN E:60 documentary series in a video titled, “Sacrifice,” highlighting how Coach Jordan’s sacrifice for Kevin has redefined the meaning of the word in baseball.
