RSVP, save the date and join our interactive weekend-long North Carolina Statewide Donor Sabbath celebration. This interactive Facebook event is where we invite our communities of faith to share photos, stories, moments of gratitude, and prayer requests for all those affected by organ, eye, and tissue donation! We will have weekly check-ins and discussion posts by moderators to encourage open dialogue and sharing.

National Donor Sabbath is observed annually, two weekends before Thanksgiving, from Friday through Sunday. This three-day observance seeks to include the days of worship for major religions practiced in the United States. During National Donor Sabbath, faith leaders from many religions, donor families, transplant recipients, and donation and transplantation professionals participate in services and programs to educate the public about the need for the lifesaving and healing gifts passed to others through transplantation. We also encourage participants to register their decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donors.

Donate Life North Carolina will also provide you and your place of worship with promotional and educational resources to spread throughout your congregation to enhance understanding around the topic. It is important to address the issue of organ, tissue and cornea donation in the context of religious beliefs, especially since a majority of faith groups view organ, tissue and corneal donation as an acceptable and charitable act. Please use this link here to fulfill your request.

So what are the steps again?

1. REQUEST your Donor Sabbath Digital Toolkit here. You'll automatically be emailed a month long prayer calendar, prayer cards for each week, social media graphics for sharing, and an infographic/FAQ full of facts.

2. RSVP to our event page on Facebook here. This is a self-guided event where you can scroll and see inspirational stories from others as well as post on your own. We highly encourage the sharing of photos, prayers, and anything else during this time of remembrance.

3. SHARE and help us promote this by sharing the Facebook event and our organ, eye, and tissue donor registry website with your friends and loved ones.

We can't wait to celebrate with you! If you have a prayer request, suggestions, idea, or general questions, or are interested in further information on organ, cornea, and tissue donation for your congregation, please contact us at

See you there!
