The mission of The North Carolina Eye Bank is to recover, process and distribute ocular tissue for the restoration of sight through corneal transplantation and related medical therapy and research.

The North Carolina Eye Bank is committed to:

  • Educating the public and medical communities about the need for eye and tissue donors
  • Ensuring that the wishes of donors and donor families are carried out to the greatest extent possible
  • Maintaining procedures to maximize quality of tissue distributed
  • Working cooperatively with ophthalmologists and other professional clients to ensure optimal results for

The North Carolina Lions Foundation, Inc. benefits thousands of visually impaired individuals in North Carolina. They are "ordinary people...doing extraordinary things!"  Whether it is a White Cane, a week at Camp Dogwood, an eye exam, new glasses, or surgery; thousands of individuals benefit from the programs and services provided through the Foundation.  To learn more about their programs and services, click here.

Donate Life North Carolina is dedicated to helping Donate Life America and the federal government increase actionable donor designations to 100 million in the United States. The Donor Designation Collaborative is a national program using a standard model for improvement and best practices to increase designated donors. 

The License to Give Trust Fund Commission (LTGTFC) is a key partner in funding the important work of Donate Life North Carolina.  The General Assembly of North Carolina enacted Senate Bill 852 [Session Law 2004-189], which established the North Carolina License To Give Trust Fund and a 15 member Commission.

The License to Give Trust Fund Commission awards grants based on their relevancy to the powers and duties outlined in NC General Statute §20-7.6 which says: “Awarding grants-in-aid to non-profit entities to conduct education and awareness activities on organ and tissue donation and advance
